This Charleston eatery is on King Street and they specialize in all things "healthy". Apparently, the college kids love it. Ours did. Pick your pita. Choose your insides. Ham, turkey, roast beef, Philly Cheese Steak, prime rib, a club, a gyro, Chicken Caesar, a Dagwood, Falafel, Babaganous, Hummus. The list is lengthy and making a decision was the tough part. Top it with loads of veggies and some sauce and you are good to go. Drinks and chips and lunch is ready. It is definitely a healthy option for "fast food". Think Subway but without the bread. And, college kids could use their OCMP cards at Pita Pit. (Off Campus Meal Plan) I have to admit, I would love to know that my college kids were wandering the streets of Charleston in
between classes. Hint, hint to my six kiddos!
The staff was outrageously friendly! And, as it turned out, the manager's husband was actually from Parsons-a small town about 20 miles from where we used to live. It never fails. Where ever and when every we go exploring, we are constantly running into West Virginia transplants. This should not come as a surprise. There are lots of people who love this area as much as we do but, it always is pleasant surprise to hear someone say..."Oh, you're from West Virginia? We are, too."
The food was filling and healthy and we enjoyed our pit stop at the Pita Pit. The shop is tiny but the pitas are huge and you will definitely leave satisfied. Stop by next time you are in Charleston....
