Icing, Cake and Whimsy........

Is whimsy a word?  I think so.  Do these little mounds of sugary goodness make you smile?  They should.  The icing is taller than the cupcake.  I had walked past this tiny shop so many times but had never stopped.  Until one day, I did.  My mom was with me.  She wanted to take a snack to the "boys" who were watching the football game.  I think she started a new trend.

Cupcake is on King Street very near Marion Square and here.  The perfect spot for a sweet treat shop.  They opened their doors in March of 2006 and the rest, as they say, is history.  What amazes me?  The fact that each cupcake has a towering amount of icing and still manages to stand upright.  They are whimsical.  They make me smile....

But, I suppose that is the purpose of a cupcake shop.  Cotton Candy. Smiles.  Red Velvet.  More smiles.  Lemon.  Sweet smiles.  My guys tried some chocolate-vanillas and mint chocolate chips.  See?  They are smiling...

It's a teeny shop with just a couple of tables.  And, owner Kristin Kuhlke Cobb, is lucky enough to now own three cupcake shops~this one on King Street, another in Mt. Pleasant and a third in Columbia.  Mega or mini-cupcakes can be ordered in advance for parties, showers, or just plain party fun.  Or, stop buy and pick some out to go.  The flavors do vary day-to-day.  But, change is good.  Right?

It's just a cool shop.  Thought you should know about it.  Everyone needs a cupcake dealer, right?  Well, at least, for birthday parties and sweet 16's?  Stop by Cupcake and do some smiling!  How can you not......

  1. Delicious photos! Will definitely have to add this to the list of places to stop on my next visit to Charleston! My two year old can easily say "cupcake" so I'm sure he'll approve, too!
