Who knew that we could possibly be so lucky so many times in just a couple of weeks? We discovered this French place and fell in love. Then, we discovered Macaroon Boutique and it happened all over again. France is in my blood. Actually, I just had an incredible French teacher in school and she made it impossible to resist. The food. The culture. Paris.
I guess it's possible that I also just love macaroons. Chocolate. Pistachio. Lemon. Raspberry. Mmm. I must admit that I'm not a huge sweet lover but these are different. A bit of crunch on the outside and sweet and creamy on the inside. Nothing beats a lemon macaroon. Mouth watering, yet?
This tiny shop is located on John Street and you might miss it if you aren't looking for it. We've missed it for over a year! But, we definitely won't be missing it any more.
Owners, Fabrice Rizzo and Fabienne Docco, have re-created a Parisian bakery in Charleston. Fresh baguettes. Rolls. Cookies. Flaky croissants. It's take-away only. Not the place to go and sit for hours and people watch. But, the desserts are utterly amazing. You will certainly want to stare at them. See what I mean?
Beautiful, no? I would have liked to have sampled them all but we were on our way to dinner with the kiddos so that really wasn't a possibility. Stopping back in next time we are in the city is definitely a probability, though.
I am now on their mailing list, too, and am happy to share this bit of information with you. Take a Macaroon Class! Sign up and learn how. Classes are for anyone. Couples. Families. Give one as a gift. To me. Or, to someone else. How cool would it be to learn to make these little treats from someone who does it for a living? The email I got advertised classes for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each one lasts 3-4 hours and you will learn:
History of macaroons
How to make shells and fillings
How to choose the best ingredients
Best practice piping
The necessary kitchen tools and utensils
They do sell some other gifts. Hot chocolate. Cute mugs. Pitchers. All that stuff. But, the real treats are in the clear plastic bags. Six in a bag. Share them with someone you like or eat them all yourself. Whatever suits you. But, don't go without them for very long. You will definitely thank me for this one!

I went to the macaroons class and absolutely LOVED IT! Fabrice and Fabienne did a superb job not only explaining the recipes, but they also shared their techniques and experiences to get the best results. The class was great!... and the best part, eating the macaroons at the end of the class :)
