We actually saw this place at the same time and we both said...."There!"
We were doing our usual on the way up to Myrtle Beach last week-end. Looking for a place to eat that we had never been. One that had some character. A restaurant that we would remember for some reason. I guess this is one of the reasons we work so well together...that sense of adventure.
Anyway, we both spotted River City Cafe at the same time and our bodies needed food before we stood on the beach and watched tons of screaming people dive into the chilly ocean. See this post if you missed it!
The River City Cafe is located at Murrells Inlet on the way up the coast....there are actually a couple of them in the area~ North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, Socastee, Surfside, and Murrells Inlet. So, if you are heading that direction, they are easy to find. And, by checking out the outside of the building, you wouldn't miss it anyway.
We think it has character on the inside, too...
Character inside and out. Not super clean. Think "old fashioned biker bar". Graffiti. Miss matched chairs. And, the walls are covered in antique license plates. Interesting reading while you wait for your burger.
That said, I am not a huge burger fan. Never have been. Except when there are options for veggie burgers and black bean burgers. I change my mind instantly!
I had a veggie burger topped with fried onion strings and spicy petal sauce. It was a Bloomin' Onion on top of a burger....DELISH! The cole slaw was okay and so were the fries but the burger was definitely something to blog about.
Sorry for the bad photo. I had noon day sun directly behind me. The mister topped his beef burger with Swiss cheese and grilled onions.
If you are looking for a great burger and a place to write on the walls and throw your peanut shells on the floor, this is probably it in the Myrtle Beach area. We had a wait longer than we would have liked but once our burgers came, we quickly forgot that part.
River City Cafe is definitely one place that you need to stop for a delicious burger! Hope this finds you gearing up for a GREAT week-end. Happy Friday from Charleston Treasures!!
