I love this photo! You can actually see happiness in the air. Okay, it's sunlight but that's pretty much the same thing, right? I took this at Leaf last Saturday night. Our plan had been to take advantage of Charleston Restaurant Week a few times but once was better than not at all. It has been a crazy month! The mister has been in West Virginia the past THREE week-ends?!?! Needless to say, we are totally looking forward to beginning this week-end with a fairly clear schedule.
Leaf Cafe+Bar is located on Beaufain Street and was the mister's choice for our Restaurant Week evening out. He probably would appreciate me saying that he is two for two here. He has chosen our last two restaurants and done incredibly well both times. We can't wait to return to Leaf and the atmosphere definitely had something to do with that!
We had the option to eat indoors or on the patio. The bar inside opens right onto the patio so the evening air and light was enjoyed by everyone. Little humidity and the perfect autumn temperature for Charleston made it fantastic outdoor dining weather. We lapped it up and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We were a bit early for our reservation and the kitchen wasn't quite ready for the dinner seating but we assured our waiter that we were in no hurry and enjoyed drinks while we waited.
It was quaint and fenced in on a quiet street in town. We enjoyed superb food of the highest quality. My dinner began with a grilled ceasar salad~grilled romaine, with a parmesan crisp and freshly grated cheese. Oh, so wonderful!
The mister enjoyed Duck Spring Rolls with a trio of dipping sauces. We were both off to a great beginning!
His entree was a South Carolina Angus Skirt Steak with Chipotle Butter and Parmesan Truffle Fries. We are nothing if not predictable! I say that smiling but it is true. My entree, however, was unique as well as delicious. Eggplant Roulade with goat cheese, spinach, artichoke, and jasmine rice topped with roasted tomato cream. This is the sort of recipe that I will try to recreate at home in my own kitchen for the next several months. Totally delectable and vegetarian!
Lucky for us, Restaurant Week deals always end in dessert. Often times, I will pass on dessert since dinners out can be so filling but not this time. The mister enjoyed warm bread pudding but my dessert takes the cake. That was sort of a funny thing to say, no? Anyway, I had Fried Goat-Cheese Cheesecake served with local honey and strawberries. How cute are these?
Those tiny bites of fried cheese on top of teeny sugar cones were absolutely perfect. A bite. Just the perfect amount of sweetness to finish off a fabulous dinner. Our evening was great and this is one place that definitely will get our return business and that is saying something. We don't often return to a place more than once because Charleston is full of so many interesting places to explore.
But, I do think we'll be back~for Brunch. Check out this Brunch Menu. If this doesn't make you want to hop out of bed on Sunday morning, nothing will!
Hope this finds you gearing up for an incredible, Lowcountry week-end. We are heading to the Charleston Music Hall tonight to check out Unchained. I think we are in for an interesting evening. Anyone else going? Happy Friday from Charleston Treasures!
